Description |
Following on from the reforms of the Legal Services Act, this international and progressive corporate law firm is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager for it’s Birmingham office to support the firm in capitalising on business opportunities within the Central England Region.
As a regional representative of a larger national business development team, the team is responsible for establishing, developing and winning relationships with target clients that meet the Firm’s growth expectations and service dynamics.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the senior partners for the region to consult and provide advice on how to identify a target client, who they should be and focus on specific sectors and industries that meet the Firm’s national objectives.
- Work in line with a national lead generation program which will measure the success and effectiveness of leads and feed into your client targeting activity
- Network to develop new relationships, knowledge and utilise the Partners knowledge of the region in order to achieve quick but profitable wins as well as planning for longer term conversions of larger clients
- Conduct desk based research into opportunities and threats for the firm and adapt this into your business development plan
- Contact key decision makers, understand their business challenges, current legal service suppliers and organise meetings to discuss with them further
- Facilitate meetings and attend with legal professionals who will talk “technical” terms with the client.
- You will be responsible for closing the business deal.
- Liaising with legal professionals to coach and provide guidance on the business development approach, setting agendas for meetings and ensuring that reservations are covered off to close the deal.
- Working to financial targets and activity based KPIs.

| Experience required |
In order to be successful in this position you will be expected to demonstrate the following:
- First class communication and public speaking/presentation skills
- Previous experience of planning and developing business from a standing start
- Negotiation and influencing skills with both internal and external customers
- Understanding and knowledge of CRM systems (any package) and how they can improve business opportunities and client care
- Graduate calibre and high level of intellect so that you feel challenged and stimulated by the level of colleagues and customers you will liaise with
- Experience of business development in a service driven industry (applicants would be welcome from individuals working within recruitment or marketing agencies, IT service providers, BPOs and managed service providers, legal, accountancy or other business service organisations).
