Ever wondered exactly what a Recruitment Consultant does during their average day? Have you considered why they’re always on the phone when you call through? Perhaps you’re thinking about a change in career and would like to know more about what a day in the life of a Recruitment Consultant would be like….
Well here’s a diary entry from one of our Interim Recruitment Specialists:
I get to work at 08.30 already knowing what needs to be done for the day ahead. I switch on my PC to check emails and 14 reminders pop-up; I have a 1st client interview, canvass calls to target clients and a meeting for potential interim business… I’m busy already!
A candidate emails to inform me that she’ll be leaving her interim assignment at the end of next month to taken on a perm role – she’s excited and I’m happy for her as she’s great! She thanked me for my professionalism and support during her assignment.
A hot job also comes through on email PERFECT MUST FOLLOW UP.
I called one of my clients to see how my candidate got on during his interview yesterday afternoon – very positive feedback; hopefully it’s in the bag! Called my candidate to let him know and he’s over the moon with his feedback. A decision will be made but we have a week of playing the waiting game. No further news on another candidate 2nd interview outcome; will have to keep chasing for a decision otherwise they may lose her to a competitor.
Started to make canvass calls, going quite well, no new jobs picked up as yet but it’s still early and they have all been receptive. I also make calls to candidates; gained a few leads to follow up. Almost lunch time, going to get some fresh air ready for this afternoon’s challenges!
After lunch and it's back on the phone continuing with canvass calls. I’ve arranged meetings with two prospective clients and planning to take CVs along with me for my clients' consideration – they have no choice but to look at them whilst I’m there! Picked up another interim job for 6 months – I already know who’s available on the market so start to speak to candidates and arranged immediate interviews (no time like the present)! CVs are emailed over to my client and interviews are confirmed.
Fingers crossed my candidate does well in his 1st interview. I start to compile and prioritise my list of things to do for my day ahead tomorrow to do it all over again! |
